Ross grew up in Arundel, in a home his parents built themselves. After their hardware store went under, Ross’s mother went to work as a house cleaner in Kennebunkport so the family could keep their home.
Ross began his career in the U.S. Senate, where he worked for Senator George Mitchell. He watched Senator Mitchell work across party lines to achieve results for Mainers. Senator Mitchell taught Ross lessons in leadership that guide him today. Ross knows that we don't change the world by only talking to people who agree with us -- in fact, the only way we make change is by working with people who disagree with us. After his time with Senator Mitchell, Ross worked as an advisor to Senator Ted Kennedy and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger -- a Republican. Ross later served as Google’s Head of International Relations. Ross resigned his position at Google after seeing the company repeatedly put corporate profits ahead of doing the right thing..
Ross knows that more and more working families are falling behind -- in Maine and across the country. Mainers need a new leader, and, after 24 years in DC, Susan Collins has clearly forgotten who sent her there. Ross is ready to lead where Susan Collins has failed. And he's not afraid to stand up to the powerful to do the right thing.
